High Tension Power Lines

Description

Overview

Power lines produce extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields, which are non-ionizing and do not directly damage DNA. NCI describes the evidence as mixed, with epidemiologic studies historically reporting associations between higher residential magnetic-field exposure and childhood leukemia, while mechanisms remain uncertain and adult cancer evidence is less consistent. This should be framed as a possible indirect environmental exposure with unresolved causality, not as a proven direct cancer cause.
